Day 19: Sat 14 May - Howard
Day 19: Sat 14 May - Howard
19 – 26°, More light rain this morning, easing to occasional showers throughout the day and eventually clearing to sightings of blue sky in the afternoon. It also got very humid in the afternoon and evening. It was a day of trying to dry everything that was soaked over the past five days, catching up on a week of washing and general cleaning. Noeleene and I drove into Hervey Bay to do a bit of shopping in the morning and returned for a quiet afternoon including a bit of a nap. Noeleene caught up on a bit more cleaning, while I cleaned and lubed the bikes. Dinner tonight was 25km away at the Burrum Heads pub with Greg, Wendy and their neighbours, and it was without a doubt the best pub meal we've had since we left home. My Crumbed Sweetlip was very nice.
Road closures along the Bruce Highway to Gladstone appear to be lifting, and so long as we don't get too much more rain, we think we will leave Howard on Monday. The aim is to have a couple of weeks around Gladstone and Yeppoon visiting my family, then (subject to weather), continuing with revised travel plans north. Fingers crossed, Greg and Wendy may join us again in a few weeks time.
