Day 8: Tue 3 May - Roma

14 – 27°,  Another beautiful sunny day, mostly clear with light winds. The day started with a trip to the largest livestock selling centre in Australia, the Roma Cattle Saleyards, for a guided tour. Although I went last year when we were in Roma, our friends had not previously been, and I was keen to return.  Noeleene didn't want to go. Our guide was 80+ year old Jim who showed me around last year, sharing his experience and knowledge of cattle industry and the Roma Saleyards. There were less than 2000 cattle being auctioned today (almost 5,000 last year on the day that i visited), and half as many visitors, but another great experience and very informative.

At 9.30, we all headed down to the Bakearoma Bakery in the main street where Noeleene met us for coffee and morning tea. From there, Noeleene went off with Jo to do grocery shopping, Greg and Wendy went off to get their faulty inverter tested (later confirmed kaputt), while Kev and i headed to the hardware store to buy some bits and pieces for some maintenance on the van. With repairs successfully completed, the boys and Wendy headed out for a ride around town to a few of the local attractions while Noeleene and Jo stayed back chatting at the van. Another lovely get together followed at Greg and Wendy's place for pre-dinner drinks, then back home for dinner and another relaxing evening.
