Day 70: Mon 4 Jul - Croydon

Day 70: Mon 4 Jul - Croydon

13-17 Deg, It rained with wind gusts reaching about 40+km/hr overnight, clearing by daybreak. It was mainly cloudy and windy with a few showers throughout the morning, and with the SE wind blowing, it was a very cold day. By mid afternoon, the clouds cleared, and the wind dropped, and blue sky made an appearance. We even got a beautiful sunset tonight. Mid morning Noeleene and I walked into town for a wonder around the historical old town, before returning for lunch. After lunch, Greg and I went for a ride out to Lake Belmore (4km out of town) via Diehm's Lookout. I returned, and did a bit of admin, rearranged some stuff in the back of the ute, and packed in preparation for our departure tomorrow for Normanton (158km drive). This being our third consecutive day without 240v power and connected water, the batteries are holding up well, but I will top up our water supply tomorrow morning in preparation for another 2 days off grid camping on the river at Normanton. The biggest inconvenience being off grid at the moment is not being able to use our gas burners or oven in the caravan, as we are still waiting on clearance from Swift regarding the safety issues. Even though our oven appears to be outside the manufacture dates of concern, we still need to be cautious and wait for clearance to use them. Croydon, is a lovely old town with a lot of history - it's very clean and tidy and a great place to stop for a few days.
